Baramulla, March 12: (PTK) The Department of Media Studies, Govt. Degree College Baramulla organized one-day seminar on “Learning
Outcomes-based curriculum Framework (LOCF)” in Journalism and Mass
Communication on Thursday.
Inaugurating the seminar, Principal Prof F R Beigh underscored the
need to reframe the UG curriculum in sync with the needs of the
present time. “I hope the deliberations of this seminar facilitate
reorganizing of the curriculum in journalism in the state,” he said.
The technical sessions of the seminar were chaired by Prof. M A Shah, Academic Counsellor to the University of Kashmir, Dr Shahid Rasool, Director, EMMRC, The University of Kashmir and Tariq Abdullah, senior producer EMMRC, KU.
During the daylong deliberations, important suggestions and
recommendations were made to reorient the curriculum in journalism and mass communication. The recommendations will be compiled and forwarded to the Higher Education Department.
A galaxy of media teachers, trainers and working journalists
participated as resource persons of the seminar. Those included Afsana Rashid, Assistant Professor, MERC, KU, Dr Suhail Ahmad, HoD,
Mass Communication, Govt College for Women, M A Road, Srinagar, Monisa Qadri, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism, IUST, Ishfaq Shah, news editor, AIR Srinagar, Ashiq Hussain, correspondent,
Hindustan Times, Shaista Qayoom,
Nisar Dharma, Syed Adil, Runaq Zahoor, Akhtar Niyaz, Afzal Sofi, Zubair Sayeed Masoodi, Dr Shah Ubaidullah, Assistant Professors of the College.
The technical sessions were hosted by Dr
Danish Nabi, HoD of the Department of Media Studies and Parvaiz Lone, Assistant Professor. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof A M Chalko, Associate Professor Botany.(PTK)
