SRINAGAR, MAR 12 (PTK): Chairman Kashmir Society International Khwaja Farooq Renzushah while expressing deep sorrow on deadly accident at Sadna top in which several persons have died at Kupwara-Karnah Khoni Nala.
He said that it is unfortunate that from 1947 till date no ruling establishment particularly those who claim themselves as elected representatives of people of Kashmir have taken any interest in establishing railway connectivity in the Kashmir division at par with Jammu or other sates of the country.
He added “We had emphasized for extending Baramulla railway to Kupwara Karnah and also south Kashmir railway to Pahalgam and other tourist areas”.
However it has been observed by people of Kashmir that the ruling regimes have never tried to take any interest in Kashmir development he said. It is shame that because of them Jammu- Srinagar was never connected with railway system in spite of announcing deadlines of its completion for last two decades.
He further added that the railway link between Jammu & Kashmir has become joke of the world. The records are witness that not a single chief minister ever visited railway sites from Jammu to Srinagar to enquire about their progress and reasons for their abnormal delays during last several decades.
He said that non connectivity of Jammu and Srinagar through railway is also main factor of isolation of Kashmir and collapse of its economy at present in entire Jammu and Kashmir it is only Kashmir division which is suffering of economic depression and daily road accidents on Jammu Srinagar highway as well as accident like today at Sadna Top are genuine reasons for intensifying such human and economic depressions in Kashmir.
Kashmir society international appeals present governor J&K state who has taken proactive measures in development to ensure that by 21st march 2020 Jammu and Kashmir is connected with railway.
Farooq Renzushah added that railway authorities and their contractors may be specifically advised to work in three shifts to ensure completion of the work within target day of 21st march 2020. Similarly the railway links upto Pahalgam, Kupwara and Karnah may be ensured to be started without any delay. (PTK)
