Militant funerals draw thousands in Tral

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Thousands of mourners on Tuesday attended funeral of two slain militants who were killed during gunfight with security forces in Tral .

Irfan Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather a resident of Shareef Abad, Tral a 12th class pass-out had joined militants group Hizbul Mujahideen on November 17, 2017 .

According to his friends, he ( Irfan ) was very pious from his childhood.

As the body of slain Irfan reached his native village, people who were already waiting for it started shouting slogans against India and were seen sending curses to “Mukhbirs” ( informers ). People were also seen shouting slogans in favour of a local Al-Qaida commander Zakir Musa. Father of popular Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was also seen in his funeral .

Women while singing songs of Islam and Freedom were also seen showering candies upon his body .

Soon after his funeral, body of slain was buried amid sobs in  a local  graveyard- a few metres far from his residence.

Same were the reports that came from the funeral prayers of his associate , Adfar Fayaz son of Fayaz Ahmad Parray – a resident of Gulshanpora village of Tral.

A huge crowd attended assembled in the native village of Adfar this morning after news of his death spread in the area. The people waited hours for his body and soon after his body reached home, his funeral was attended amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogan. People including women and children were seen kissing his face with moist eyes during his funeral . After the funeral, people carried his body to a local graveyard where he was laid to rest.

Adfar had joined ranks of Hizbul Mujahideen on July 06, 2018.

The police said that the duo were affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen and were involved in different crimes that include attacks on forces establishments and were wanted. The police recovered two AK-47’s from possession of the duo.

This gunfight broke out between militants and security forces last evening but taking the advantage of darkness militants flew from initial site but again got trapped in a nearby house this morning and got killed. A civilian also sustained injuries during the exchange of fire who was shifted to Srinagar hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
