SRINAGAR, MAR 3 (PTK): Government forces used batons and fired teargas canisters on Sunday after alleged thrashing of a Youth without any provocation which triggered massive protests in Malpora area of Mir-Bazar Qazigund town of south Kashmir.
Scores of people hit the streets in Mir-Bazar area of Qazigund when news spread that a youth has been beaten up by government forces early this morning, witnesses told PTK. Chanting slogans, the locals mostly youth staged demonstrations against what they called ‘highhandedness’ of government forces.
“Youth also pelted stones at the government forces to vent their anger. In retaliation, government forces lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters. This led to outbreak of clashes,” witnesses said.
Meanwhile, MLA Devsar M. Amin Bhat condemns unacceptable behaviour of India army in Mir-Bazar Qazigund.
Bhat demanded immediate apology from the guilty found persons. (PTK)
