Gunbattle underway in Sopore village

SRINAGAR, (PTK): An encounter between militants and government forces broke out in Warpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to reports, after searching for eight hours forces finally established contact with hiding militants at around 11:40 PM.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.

Reports said that CASO was launched in the area on yesterday at around 02:30 PM following the inputs about presence of some militants in the area. Joint forces that include 22 RR, SOG and 179bn CRPF are on job.

Earlier , authorities suspended internet services in the Sopore sub-division. Moreover , restrictions have been imposed in Sopore sub-division.

Sources said , two-three militants are holed up in the area. Meanwhile, heavy exchange of fire is going on. (PTK)
