At least 44 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed and many others injured in an IED blast that targeted their convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The death toll is expected to rise.
The Pulwama attack is the third deadliest peace-time attack on our security forces after the Dantewada attack by Maoists in April 2010 that killed 75 CRPF personnel and the Rani Bodi attack in Chhattisgarh, again by Maoists, in March 2007 that killed 55 policemen.
