Soldier from Punjab commits suicide in Samba

SRINAGAR, (PTK): A 30-year-old soldier committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in an army camp in Samba district on Tuesday. The incident took place in an army camp at Panama Chowk.

The deceased identified as Sepoy Sandeep Singh was a resident of Punjab. He was on guard duty at a post in a transit camp at Panama Chowk. It was then he shot himself in his head. On hearing the gunshot, his colleagues rushed to the scene and found him lying in a pool of blood.

They took him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. The body was handed over to the Army for last rites after completing legal formalities. The officials are trying to find the motive behind this extreme step. (PTK)
