‘White out exposes Govt. efforts to address scarcity of essentials in Valley’
Srinagar, Feb 9: Accusing the government putting state’s tribal population in dire straits, Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary said on Saturday that when the snowfall has wreaked havoc in Valley, scores of areas with tribal population have been plunged into chaos.
Kadfeen in a statement issued here said that the far-flung areas of Kashmir valley in general and areas having the tribal population, in particular, have been left in the lurch by the governor administration and no help is being extended to them even when their dwellings are covered by the thick snow blankets. He added that there is no drinking water facility made available to these people and they are compelled to reel under the dreadful darkness. Furthermore said Kadfeen, there are no medical facilities being made available to the affected areas and even pregnant women have been left at the mercy of the situation. “This is absolutely bizarre and unacceptable. The government must come forward and provide all sort of assistance to the affected populace sans further delay,” said Kadfeen.
The Congress leader stated that the tribal population in Jammu and Kashmir is already bearing the brunt of tumultuous times and if the government continues to push them to the wall, the outcome the same would be disastrous.
He said several areas continue to remain snowbound in Valley and it is high time for the administration to access the situation on ground and resolve them on priority with immediate restoration of essential supplies including water and electricity be made possible.
