Jammu, January 25: Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Shailender Singh, 1999 batch JKPS officer, is awarded President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services. He has outstanding record in extending long arm of law against the criminals when he was SP HQ Jammu. On apprehending the 149th absconding criminal, the then IGP Jammu appreciated him & his teams efforts with a written letter. At the same time, he initiated rehabilitation measures for ‘Sansi’ the notorious illicit liquor distillers tribe for eradication of this menace.
Mr. Singh, BSF trained commando officer had equally outstanding service record when serving in Chief Minister’s Security. Alumni of Regional Engineering College (Now NIT) Srinagar and 1991 batch MBA from The Business School of Jammu University had his foot-marks left behind his successful tenures as SSP CID Counter Intelligence Jammu as well as the JKAP 9th BN that he commanded. A celebrated writer, Shailender Singh has also the distinction of being the only police officer J&K & perhaps in India too, who has been awarded India’s highest literary ‘Sahitya Akademy Award’ for his literary novel-‘Hashiye Par’ in mother tongue. It’s English translation ‘HASHIYE PAR: for a Tree to Grow’ is a renowned Oxford University Press publication.
Presently the officer has been assigned the responsibility of AIG (Buildings) in police HQs of J&K police.
