Trio militants laid to rest at Baramulla

All the three local militants killed in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district were laid to rest amid hues and cries.

Bearing cold weather and rains hundreds of people from Baramulla and adjoining areas had assembled at Old Town Baramulla to attend the last rites and rituals of the trio identified as Suhaib Farooq Akhoon S/O Farooq Ahmad Akhoon R/O Khanpora Baramulla, Mohsin Mushtaq Bhat S/O Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat R/O Qazi Hamam Baramulla, Nasir Ahmad Darzi S/O Mohd Amin Darzi R/O Jamia Qadeem Baramulla who were affiliated with militant outfit LeT.

After a collective funeral procession of the duo Mohsin and Nasir at Eid Gah Kadeem Old Town and funeral of Suhaib at Khanpora, all the three were inhumed in their ancestral graveyards amid Pro Freedom and Anti India slogans.

All the roads leading to Baramulla town were sealed by the security forces and frisking was intensified to maintain law and order in the district.

It is pertinent to mention that on Wednesday, security forces launched a cordon operation on specific information about the presence of three militants in Binner area, a few kilometers away from Baramulla town
As per police statement Militants were provided with ample opportunity to surrender but they resorted to firing on the security forces from their hideout leading to the gunfight in which all the three militants got killed.
Meanwhile while covering the huge gathering Bilal Bahadur, Srinagar Based Photojournalist fell down from a truck that he had mounted on to click the pictures and suffered serious injuries and was rushed to district hospital Baramulla for treatment.
J&K DGP Dilbag Singh declared Baramulla as “Kashmir’s 1st militant-free district in 29 years” and said last 3 surviving resident militants of the district got killed in Wednesday’s encounter at Binner. (PTK)
