SRINAGAR, JAN 17 (PTK): In a shocking act of shame Human Rights Defender and Chairman International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Ahsan Untoo has allegedly attempted to rape a widow of a militant in Rajbagh area of Srinagar city.
Police has registered a case at Police Station Rajbagh under FIR no. 10/2019 under sections 376 and 511 of RPC against Ahsan Untoo for allegedly attempting to rape a widow of a militant commander who was killed in 1993 in a gunfight with the. The complainant (name withheld), hailing from North Kashmir’s Bandipora district was left with four small children and no source of income.
In 2016, the lady (name withheld) planned to marry off her eldest daughter. She felt a need for some financial assistance and it was then that someone put her across to Ahsan Untoo who promised her financial help from his organization and elsewhere. He took her to Yateem Trust Bemina where the management handed over cheques of Rs. 20000/- to Untoo in her name.
Sources confirmed PTK that Untoo asked her to accompany him to his office but instead took her to his rented house at Rajbagh, wherein he tried to rape here. “Allah gave me the courage and I pushed him aside and ran out of the house. In the middle of the chaos, I couldn’t even collect the cheques that Yateem Trust,” the lady stated in the complaint.
Untoo, pertinently, hails from Lolab valley of the frontier district Kupwara and is these days very active to file petitions at State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) against any civilian killings in Kashmir. Sources confirmed “Ahsan Untoo is right now in Delhi once he reached Kashmir he will be arrested and further action will be taken as per the law”.
Meanwhile Ahsan Untoo while speaking to News agency Press Trust of Kashmir said, “These allegations are totally baseless and I know who is doing all this”. He further added “I’m not the first person these women have already make such allegation against lot of person”. (PTK)
