Srinagar: The Delhi Police Special Cell has said that they have arrested ‘two Kashmiri militants’ from New Delhi. The police has claimed that the two arrested people were in touch with Hizb Militant, Syed Naveed Mushtaq alias Naveed Babu.
Detailing the arrests in a press release, the Delhi Police said that a team of Special Cell/New Delhi Range (NDR) led by Inspector Satish Rana, Sunil Rajain & Ravinder Joshi under the supervision of Lalit Mohan, Hridaya Bhushan and Govind Sharma, ACP/Special Cell, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi with Shopian Police of J&K apprehended two militants of HM.
OPERATION & ARREST
The team of Special Cell/NDR has been working upon identifying and apprehending the modules inspired by ISIS and terrorist of HM who are procuring weapons from North India. It was learnt that these modules off lately are strengthening their cadres in Jammu & Kashmir and planning to extend their activities in Delhi and nearby areas.
Recently, on 06.09.2018, two militant of ISIS-JK namely Parvaiz Rashid Lone and Jamsheed Zahoor Paul both resident of Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) were arrested by Special Cell near Red fort, New Delhi along with arms and ammunitions. And on 24.11.18 three active militants namely (1) Tahir Ali Khan (2) Haris Mushtaq Khan (3) Asif Suhail Nadaf were also arrested on the information of Special Cell in Sri Nagar with hand grenades and weapons.
During the onset of this year, a specific input was received by Special Cell regarding movement of HM militants in NCR for procuring sophisticated small weapons. It has been learnt that small weapons for executing target killing are difficult to arrange in J & K and the HM militants are procuring the same from NCR. Information was received recently that a HM militant has procured a sophisticated weapons and will join the ranks of HM as an active militant. Which was further developed and for this, a team of Special Cell headed by Inspector Sunil Rajain and Inspector Ravinder Joshi was sent to J&K. The information was further developed by the team and was shared with their counterparts in Shopian District. Immediately, on the specific input of Special Cell, a trap was laid in the area of PS Shopian with Shopian Police. The team acted swiftly and apprehended two active HM militants.
RECOVERY:
- One pistol
- 14 live cartridges.
The arrested militants were in contact with Naved Mustaq, an ex-constable, age 30yrs, also known as Naveed Babu, a resident of Nazneenpora of Shopian, south Kashmir. He had joined J-K police in 2012 and was serving as a police constable before joining militants. He decamped with four weapons in 2017. He is district commander of HM.
During this ongoing operation, an underground hideout (believed to be of Naveed Babu) which can accommodate 4-5 militants at a time was also identified.
