KULGAM, JAN 12 (PTK): Protests have erupted at the gunfight site in Kathpora village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam area after an encounter raged between militants and government forces on Saturday afternoon.
Reports reaching PTK said that youth have emerged near the site and are pelting stones on the forces. The forces too have retaliated using tear smoke shells.
Meanwhile, mobile internet service has also been suspended in Kulgam areas. The operation that ensued has led to the killing of two militants so far.
Reports said that forces have strengthened the cordon and are installing flood lights in the area to carry out the operation.
Earlier a joint team of army’s 34RR and SOG Kulgam launched cordon and search operation in Katpora after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area. (PTK)
