SRINAGAR, JAN 08 (PTK): Students who received their Class 12 Jammu and Kashmir state Board of Secondary Education (JKBOSE) exam results on Sunday attempts to end her life due to falling in exams.
Reports said a 19-year-old girl student tried to end her life by jumping in river Jehlum at Chankhan area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla.
Reports said that the girl took the extreme step this morning after she failed in class 12th examination. “Some fishermen saved her and she was rushed to Sub District hospital Sopore where she is under treatment.”
The girl has been identified as Mariya Bashir daughter of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Batpora Sopore.
Many students have been left disappointed by their result this year after the JKBOSE declared its Class 12 board exam results on Monday. Students in various parts of Kashmir have been mostly unhappy about their marks in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
“I was expecting to score above 93% in Chemistry and around 90% in Physics. I, however, managed just 51% in Chemistry and an 49% in Physic. I would have got these papers re-evaluated. I will get the scores verified now,” said a Class 12 student from Girls higher secondary.
Officials have said that instead they will ‘re-check’ or ‘verify’ answer papers, where they will ensure that all answers have been evaluated and marked and the scores have been totalled correctly.
“I believe that doing away with re-evaluation is not right. What if my paper wasn’t evaluated correctly? Our papers deserve a re-evaluation, especially after the kind of marks we are getting,” said a student who scored 76 in English and 24 in Chemistry; lower than what they said they had expected. The student said she will be approaching the board to get her papers verified soon.
The result of Jammu and Kashmir state board of school education Class 12th examination was declared on Jan 07 on the official website.
The overall pass percentage of 12th class this year according to JKBOSE is 52% with 69969 students having appeared in the said examinations. (PTK)
