Mukhtar Waza remembers Sopore massacre victims

Demands justice for 57 civilians killed in 1993 Sopore massacre

Srinagar, 6 January (PTK): Senior APHC Leader and the chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Sunday said that despite passing of 25 years into Sopore massacre justice has still eluded Kashmiris.

He said that,Humanity may have never witnessed such a heinous crime when a toddler snatched from the lap of his mother was thrown into the flames and when the hapless mother protested, she too was silenced forever by the bullets.57 civilians were killed in Border Security Force (BSF) firing and 120 houses and 350 shops gutted on this day in 1993.

Waza appealed the international community to investigate these killings and other similar incidents in Kashmir and identify the personnel involved. “Those responsible for outrageous human rights violations must be held to account, said Waza.
