Anti FMD vaccination started in upper reaches of Tral

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Department of Animal Husbandry   started a massive vaccination drive against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Tral villages. The programme was kick-started by Dr. Mudasir  B.V.O Tral.

While talking to News agency Press Trust of Kashmir ,Dr Jagjeet Singh, senior animal husbandry department doctor said that vaccination began on December 01 through the entire upper region of Tral.

Foot and mouth disease is a severe and highly contagious viral disease that attacks cattle. This disease can easily spread from the infected animals through aerosols. A sore forms on the foot and in the mouth of the cattle, due to which they find it difficult to eat the food normally. This will make them weak… Said Dr.

In May month of this year around 50 cattle killed by this deadly disease. In view of that we started a vaccination for early prevention of this disease , said Dr. Rainder singh of animal husbandry block From Aripal Tehsil of Tral area. (PTK)
