Ansar Ghazwatul Hind militant killed in Tral gunfight

SRINAGAR, NOV 27 (PTK): A militant was killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Reshipora area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

Police said that a militant was killed in the gunfight which broke out after a joint team of army’s 42RR, 180 BN CRPF and SOG cordoned off Reshipora. The slain militant is believed to be a member of Zakir Musa led group Ansar Ghazwatul Hind.

In a statement issued police said that a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by Police and security forces early morning hours today based on a credible input about the presence of militants in Hafoo Reshipora area of Tral Township.

 Police said, “As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight. In the ensuing encounter, one militant was killed and his body was retrieved from the site of encounter. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter”.

“Citizens are requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any”, police added.

Meanwhile the slain militant was identified as Shakir Ahmad Dar a member of Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind militant. (PTK)
