SRINAGAR, (PTK): Shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley on Saturday against the landing of army in Jammu and Kashmir on this day in 1947.
The call for shutdown was issued by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) – an amalgam of separatist outfits headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
The JRL had urged the people to observe October 27 as “black day.”
Shops and other commercial establishments, schools and colleges remained closed across Kashmir valley including commercial hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar while attendance of employees in government offices was reported to be very thin.
Public transport remained off the roads, however private vehicles was seen plying in uptown Srinagar.
Authorities have suspended train services across Kashmir as a “precautionary measure” in view of shutdown call. (PTK)
