Srinagar, (PTK): An army man injured in the initial exchange of gunfire between militants and forces in Pazalpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today morning, succumbed to injuries.
In the same encounter, two militants were also killed.
The gunfight which broke out today morning after army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF 92 BN launched a cordon-and-search operation in Pazalpora area of Sopore, following the specific inputs about presence of militants in the area.
An army man has been identified as Brijesh Kumar, who succumbed at the military hospital at 92 base Badamibagh in Srinagar.
The encounter is reportedly over and the search operation has been launched to recover the bodies.
An army officer also confirmed the killing of two militants and the army man in the gunfight. SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that the exchange of firing stopped and the searches has been launched to recover the bodies, reported GNS.
The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, Greater Kashmir quoted sources saying. When reports last came in the searches at gunfight site was going on.
