“When PDD installed meters in our area we were told that we would get power supply round the clock, but their promises turned out to be a hoax,” residents said.

The situation in un-metered and remote villages of Kupwara,Langate, Handwara, Kralpora,Trehgam,Hayhama and valley Lolab  is no different. Many remote villages, including  Diver lolab, Rajpora, Kalmoona, Hafrada, Rangward, Marseri, Shalal and Dahama, are facing acute power shortage.

In Drugmulla, vodhpora, Muhgalpora, power supplied from Arampora grid station is disrupted after every half an hour. “PDD resorts to continuous powercuts,” locals said.

Residents of Tikker,Hirri,  Trehgam and Kralpora  complained that power plays hide and seek and during night hours the supply goes off for hours together. “Unscheduled power cuts have become order of the day and students are the worst sufferers” said Altaf Ahmad (PTK)
