Kupwara,24 Oct The residents of Diver village of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district today staged a massive protest against Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) for their apathy towards providing Electricity and drinking water in the area.
As per reports, a large number of people from Batpora,Chopan mohallah,Bhat Mohallah and other villages assembled at Main Chowk Diver and blocked it for vehicular traffic in support of demands.
They alleged that they were being supplied water on alternate days but from past one month they are getting same once in a week.
“if by chance once in a week the water supply is given to Diver residents it lasts only for few minutes” protesters said

The residents alleged that PHE department is forcing them to beg single drop of water due to negligence of concerned authorities.
Protesters said that they conveyed PDD and PHE departments several times about their grievances but concerned officers have been unmoved..
“Officials of the concerned department even did not visit the area to take stock of the fault,” said locals, adding the condition of water supply in the area is getting bad to worse but officials are in deep slumber.
“The PHE officials have also been contacted for resolution of water crises, but despite assurances no development has been made so far, thus the entire area is reeling under water shortage,” they said .
They warned the authorities that if their matter will not be resolved within few days they will resume the protest again.
