Rajnath Singh arrives in Kashmir on a day-long visit

Srinagar, (PTK): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday in to review the security situation in the Kashmir and the India-Pakistan border.

Before leaving Delhi, Rajnath tweeted: “Heading to Srinagar on a day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Shall review the security situation and important initiatives taken in the state.”

Rajnath’s visit to Kashmir comes in the backdrop of the recent killings of civilians in Kulgam, that has put the valley on boil.

As per reports, Rajnath is also scheduled to meet Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhawan alongside senior officials from civil administration, police and security forces and assess the prevailing situation in the state.

This will be Rajnath’s maiden visit after the governor rule that was impose in June this year, post the PDP-BJP breakup.

The Minister is also reportedly expected to meet the leaders of political parties and representatives of some civil groups.
