Srinagar, (PTK): For the second consecutive day, normal life in Kashmir remained crippled as authorities imposed restrictions in parts of city to foil the Joint Resistance Leadership’s (JRL) Lal Chowk chalo call over the civilian killings in Kulgam.
The busy streets of Lal Chowk remained sealed with concertina wires with heavy deployment of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary personnel, while the old city as well remained shut.
Local hops, private offices and educational institutes remained shut in many parts of the summer capital, while public transport was off the roads.
The protest rally was announced by separatists Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik under the banner of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL).
Yasin Malik who had gone into hiding to evade arrest was detained in Lal Chowk during the protest march, while Mirwaiz was also detained and lodged at police station Nigeen after he defied his house arrest and tried to join the rally.
