SRINAGAR, OCT 21(PTK): Today a plantation drive along the Baltal track in Sindh Forest Division, Ganderbal was kick started by Commissioner Secretary Forests J&K, Sh Manoj Dwivedi and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests ( PCCF) J&K, Sh Suresh Chugh in presence of APCCF ( CAMPA),Sarvesh Rai,Chief Conservator of Forests ,Kashmir Sh Farooq Gillani.
The Commissioner Secretary Forests also inspected the last year Plantation works done under various schemes including CAMPA,State Sector and also inspected the various conifer nurseries in the division and took a detailed review of Plantation Program being carried out in this season. The Commissioner Secretary Forests was informed that 25 lakhs of plants of diverse species are being planted this year and greening of degraded forest lands.
On the occasion,The Commissioner Secretary Forests said “The object of this plantation drive is to Eco- restore the un-stable slopes and to add to the natural beauty of the Baltal area and green cover.The forest department has this year launched a special afforestation Project in Baltal in which thousands ofJunipers, Fir plants and other conifer as well as broad leaved plants and soil binding species are being planted.The Department is also raising a Pilot Nursery for this purpose at Baltal”.
The Commissioner Secretary was also accompanied by Conservator of Forests Irfan Ali Shah,DFO Sindh,Range Muneer Ahmad rather sindh range Kangan.(PTK)
