Five civilians dead, over 40 injured

Srinagar, (PTK): Five civilians died near the gunfight site and dozens have sustained injuries after an encounter in which three militants were killed and two army men injured in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Sunday.

Post encounter, clashes that erupted near gunfight site and the blast of unexplored shell blast from the spot where encounter took place, killed a total of five civilians.

The dead civilians have been reportedly identified as Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway, Uzair Ahmad, Mansoor Ahmad, Talib Maqbool of Laroo, Tajamul Ahmad of Denew Bogund and Irshad Ahmad of Shurat.

Youth took to streets to pelt stones on the government forces, and in retaliation, teargas shells, pellets and live ammunition were fired to disperse off the protesting crowd.

As per reports, 32 injured were received in the District Hospital Kulgam, of which, four of them were shifted to Srinagar; while Islamabad Hospital recieved 11 injured persons and three among them were shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. (PTK)
