Srinagar, (PTK): Amid sloganeering and wailing, thousands of people marched with the bodies of two militants and a civilian, who were killed in a gunfight today, till the martyrs’ graveyard for their funeral procession in Srinagar.
In an early morning gunfight between the militants and the government forces in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar city, two militants were shot dead along with a civilian. One policeman identified as Kamal Kishore was also killed.
The militants were identified as Mejraj ud Din Bangroo and Fahad Mushtaq Waza – both from Lashkar e Toiba outfit. The civilian was identified as Rayees Ahmad.
Thousands of mourners seeped into the heart of the city by late afternoon, arriving at the homes of the two militants and the civilian. The mourners in the form of a procession led the three bodies towards the martyrs’ graveyard in Eidgah, passing through the downtown areas like Bohri Kadal, Rajouri Kadal, Saraf Kadal and others.
Surprisingly, the police didn’t stop the procession and let it pass through the downtown areas of the city.
However, clashes were reported later between youth and the government forces from parts of the city.
