Kashmir shuts to mourn Manan Wani’s death
Curfew imposed in Kupwara, restriction imposed in Srinagar areas
 
Srinagar, Oct 12 (PTK): A complete shutdown is being observed across the Valley to mourn the death of a PhD scholar-turned-militant, Dr. Abdul Manan Wani.
Dr Manan along with his associate was killed in an encounter at Shatgund Qalamabad in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In view of shutdown, the authorities imposed curfew in kupwara and imposed restrictions in srinagar area today to prevrnt any possible protest against the killing of Manan.
According to our bureau head, Wasim Majnoon Mir, amid strict curfew, restrictions and shutdown, clashes erupted in Kupwara town with youth pelting the forces with stones which responded by firing tear gas. While all the roads connecting with Kupwara town were sealed by the authorities.
Reports said curfew-like-restrictions gave also been imposed in Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district- the home town of Dr Manan Wani.
Authorities have suspended the Internet services in the Kupwara district “as a precautionary measure”. Schools and colleges have also been closed in the district.(PTK)
