SRINAGAR, OCT 6 (PTK): About 20 people were found dead and 13 injured in an accident where a minibus fell into a deep gorge at Kela Moth on Jammu Srinagar National Highway, reports said. The van driver lost control over the vehicle on reaching Kela morh near Maroof.
The vehicle which was en route to Ramban from Banihal rolled down the 200-feet-deep gorge, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Anita Sharma. According to an officer, the rescue operation was immediate and 15 people were taken to the hospital.
A similar incident occurred on the same day when over sixteen soldiers were injured as their army vehicle skidded off the road on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, said police. The incident took place in Kanipora village. Police said, “The 16 soldiers belonging to the elite Para-Commando Force. Some have been shifted to an Army base hospital in Srinagar for treatment.” (PTK)
