Militancy in Kashmir was born after NC resorted to rigging in 1987: Altaf Thakur

Srinagar, Oct 5 (PTK): Hitting back at the National Conference provincial spokesman for leveling serious allegations, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) State spokesman Altaf Thakur said that the militancy in Kashmir was the outcome of rigging committed by none other than the National Conference in 1987 and it’s because of that very mistake generation after generation of Kashmir’s young lot is suffering till date.

In a statement issued here, Thakur while taking a dig at the National Conference for claiming to be secular party, said that BJP doesn’t need certificate for being a secular party as 2014 Parliamentary polls is enough evidence when people India irrespective of their cast, creed, colour and religion voted enmas in favour of the BJP. Thakur said that it was for the first time in history, first Lok Sabha seat was bagged from Uttar Pradesh where Muslims in large numbers voted for the BJP.

Thakur said that as far as giving tickets to the former militants is concerned, the fact remains that BJP is so mature a party that it leaves its doors open for those who mend their ways and side with the nation to ensure development, progress besides their own well being. National Conference, Thakur said, BJP has always been stating that those who shun violence are always welcome and if a person who had picked up gun earlier, wants to change for better tomorrow, BJP is going to extend its helping hand to those every time.

Thakur said that the politics of deceit played by the National Conference since its inception is nothing but a dynasty rule since 1947 and people of Jammu and Kashmir have already rejected their politics as party stands nowhere at present while as BJP is gaining ground everywhere as seen in the Municipal Polls.

Thakur said that that as far as Kashmiri Pandits are concerned, they are part and parcel of Kashmir and BJP would leave no stone unturned to ensure their dignified return to their home land. He said that Kashmiri Pandits enjoy equal voting rights as that of any other citizen of Jammu and Kashmir and they can cast their votes from anywhere they are putting up at present. The BJP state spokesman also castigated Congress president Ghulam Ahmed Mir for stating that they are in the poll pray just to stop BJP from having a field day and stated that Congress is feeling frustrated over the growing popularity of the BJP as people of Kashmir have realized that their future lies with the Union of India and BJP cadre would resolve their issues as other parties always exploited them. Meanwhile, Thakur expressed his shock and grief over the killing of two political workers terming the act as barbaric.  (PTK)
