Kupwara,01 Oct (PTK): Aghast with the government decision to start exams from October, the students of 11th class of Government Higher Secondary School Maidanpora Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday held a protest demanding deferment of their examination.
Hundreds of class 11th students of the school assembled on Kupwara-Warnow road at Maidanpora market and blocked the vehicular movement.
“We have not completed our syllabus yet still the government is adamant to hold our exams as per their own convenience without considering the students’ point of view. We won’t be able to perform well in the exams,” a protesting student said.
They demanded that their examination should be deferred to mid-November so that they could complete their syllabus.
Later, the Sub divisional Magistrate Lolab Ahmed Hussain and a police party reached at the spot and pacified the protesting students. SDM Lolab assured them that their grievances will be taken up with higher authorities. (PTK)
