Matric, 11th class candidates failing in any subjects not to be allowed in next class

Srinagar, (PTK): Candidates of class 10th and class 11th examination failing in one out of five compulsory subjects even after Bi-Annual examination will not be, now on, allowed to continue their studies in 11th and 12th class, the J&K state Board of School Education (JKBOSE) ordered Wednesday.

In a notification issued by Director Academics JKBOSE, Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer, the board said that the candidates of class 10th and class 11th examinations “who are declared fail in one subject out of five compulsory subjects shall not be henceforth allowed to continue their studies in next higher classes i. e, class 11th and 12th respectively after declaration of their result of Bi-Annual examinations”.

“Admission of only those candidates who are declared pass in all the compulsory subjects shall be regularised,” the JKBOSE notification said.

Although candidates failing in one or more than one subject/s shall be“provisionally” allowed to continue their studies in the next higher class, however after the declaration of the Bi-Annual result, the provisional admission of all such candidates who are declared fail in one or moresubjects “shall stand cancelled”, the board has explained in the notification.

“Only those candidates who will be declared successful in all the compulsory subjects shall be eligible for regularisation of the admission,” it added.

The orders, the board said, “shall come into effect from the academic session 2018-19 in case of Kashmir Division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division including Leh and Kargil districts and academic session 2019-20 incase of summer zone areas of Jammu Division, respectively”  (PTK)
