SRINAGAR, SEP 24 (PTK): Public health engineering (PHE) daily wagers held a protest in Srinagar on Monday demanding the release of long pending salaries.
Dozens of protesting PHE daily wagers under the banner of Kashmir PHE assembled here at the Pratap Park and marched towards Press Enclave Srinagar. Carrying placards and banners, the protesters were shouting slogans seeking release of their long pending wages.
Kashmir division president, Sajad Ahmad Parray while carrying banners and placards assembled here at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and raised slogans against the government.
Sajad told reporters that from last 21 months, the casual labourers and land donors have been left on God’s mercy as the government has failed to release their wages, thus leaving them to suffer.
He said that the wages of daily wagers and ITI workers are also withheld from last five months due to unknown reasons, thus leaving all the employees to lurch at large.
“The government must release our wages at an earliest so that the employees could heave a sigh of relief,” he said, adding that from several months, the government is using delaying tactics to withhold their wages for unknown reasons, lamenting that the families of thousands of PHE employees are being pushed towards starvation.
