Kupwara,22 Sep (PTK): An encounter broke out between militants and the security forces near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar area of frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Saturday.
The army’s 20 JAT and a group of militants had a stand-off in the dense woods of pathri area of Eagle post near Line of control (LOC) in tanghdar sector today afternoon.
As per reports, army launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of militants.
As the security forces intensified the searches, a group of terrorists opened fire on them, triggering off a gunfight. Reports said that Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the site.
SSP Kupwara Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar while confirming the report about gunfight said that operation is going on near pathri area of Eagle post near LOC tanghdar. (PTK)
