Baramulla
One day Media Festival was organised by the
Department of Media Studies, Government Degree College, Baramulla on Saturday.
Ten films produced by the media students were screened and a photo exhibition was also held to reflect the creativity of students of the department. More than 100 Photos captured by the media students were showcased in the exhibition. Students also displayed their talent through a skit and a comedy show.
The inaugural address was given by Head of the Department, Dr. Danish Nabi followed by a brief overview of the department by a senior faculty Mr. Akhter Neyaz.
Principal, Prof. F R Beigh also addressed the gathering.
In the afternoon valedictory session Prof. Tariq Chalkoo, former co-ordinator of the department, faculty members accompanying students from various colleges gave their impressions about the event. A vote of thanks was presented by Professor, Parvaiz lone.
The event was attended by an audience of about 200 students including media students of GDC Boys Khanabal Anantnag, Govt. Women Collage M A Road Srinagar and guest students from higher secondary schools of the district viz SRM Welkim Sopore, SJS Baramulla, GHSS Girls Baramulla, GHSS Boys Baramulla, Baramulla Public School, Hanfiya Model Public School Kreeri.
Staff Secretary Dr. Murtaza Geelani, HOD’s and faculty of various departments of the college were also present on the occasion.
The festival was completely a students effort under the guidance of faculty of the department.
