PCI summons CS J&K govt, in a complaint filed by photojournalist

SRINAGAR, SEP 9 (PTK): The Press Council of India has summoned the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir government and other top government forces officers for hearing in a complaint filed by a freelance photojournalist Asif Shafi.

 

The inquiry committee will hear the details of the case in the conference hall of the PCI at 11:00 am at Soochna Bhawan in New Delhi.

 

The summon has also sought the presence of Secretary J&K home department, Director General of CRPF,  IGP CRPF Kashmir, DGP Jammu and Kashmir police, SSP Anantnag and Director Information Kashmir.

 

Asif Shafi, a freelance photojournalist was beaten by CRPF personnel in Seer Hamdan area of Anantnag district on October 9, 2017 when he was going to cover a braid chopping incident.

 

Shafi had sent a written complaint to the Press Council of India.

 

The officials have been asked to either appear in person or through a representative who must be duly authorized in writing. (PTK)
