ReT teachers stages protest, observes ‘Teachers Day’ as a black day

SRINAGAR SEP 05 (PTK): Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers on Wednesday staged a protest in Srinagar to press for their demands even as they observed Teachers’ day as a “black day”.

Teachers Day is observed in India on September 5. The teachers assembled at Sher-e-Kashmir Park and staged a protest to press for implementation of the 7th pay commission benefits.

The protesters were led by Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) president Abdul Qayoom Wani.

The protesting teachers who wore black attire and carried black flags appealed to the state government to “end to the double standards by implementing 7th pay commission.”

The police resorted to cane-charge after the protesting teachers tried to stage protest on the road leading to Lal Chowk near Polo View. (PTK)
