Srinagar: National Conference on Wednesday announced to boycott the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Announcing this, the party President Farooq Abdullah said that his party won’t contest the upcoming panchayat and municipal polls.

He said that that the situation was not “conducive for the polls”.
Farooq Abdulla while talking to reporters said the decision to this effect was taken in a party meeting.
“National Conference will not participate in these elections (panchayat), unless & until, the Government of India and the state government clear its position in the matter of Article 35 A and takes effective steps for the protection of this Article,” Farooq told reporters. (PTK)
