Members of Graduate Mechanical Contractors stages protest to demand pending dues
SRINAGAR, SEP 01 (PTK): Members of Graduate Mechanical Contractors Union working under National saffron mission Saturday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar against the State Mechanical Department for holding their long pending dues.
The protesting union members while chanting slogans and holding banners assembled in Pratap park. They claimed that the project National Saffron Mission project was sanctioned in the year 2010-11 under National agriculture development programme.
The initiative of it was to revive saffron in the traditional areas of Jammu and Kashmir, but the department has failed them all by holding crores of dues from last several months.
The Union General Secretary, Er. Raqib Yousaf said that, originally the project was more than Rs 80 crores and revised cost of the project is Rs 84 crores.
The protesters said that more than 450 families rely on the said project, and their dues are pending from January 2018. (PTK)
