SRINAGAR, AUGUST 02 (PTK): Two militants were today killed in Khumriyal area of northern district of Kupwara.
Security forces today in the afternoon had established a Naka in the area. While the checking at the Naka point was going on, militants fired on the Naka party which was retaliated by the alert security forces.
In a brief encounter, two militants were successfully eliminated by the security forces.
The killed militants have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah, a resident of Shatmuqam and Zahoor Ahmad. They were affiliated with proscribed outfit HM. Both the militants were involved in several attacks on the security establishments and civilian atrocities in the area. Besides one AK 47 and one INSAS rifle was recovered back from the militants which was yesterday snatched from a policeman in Kandhar area of Kupwara.
No collateral damage occurred during the encounter. Police has registered a case and investigation into the matter has been initiated. (PTK)
