Another policeman abducted in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR, JULY 28 (PTK):  Militants abducted another policeman from Tral area of Pulwama district’s in South Kashmir. Reports said that the said police officer was picked up from the Chankitar village and has been identified as Shakeel Ahmed.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a massive combing operation to track him down. The policeman was abducted from the area late on Friday night after which Hizbul Mujahideen has released the picture of the policeman lodged in its captivity.

“We are verifying the information. His family has said that he is visiting a relative: SP Vaid, DGP, J&K on reports of a J&K Police SPO abducted by terrorists in Pulwama district’s Tral”, Vaid wrote on twitter.

Abduction of policemen are on the rise in J&K and it is posing a new challenge for the security agencies as well as the forces.

This is the fourth such incident in just two months. Last week, police constable Mohammed Saleem was abducted from his home in Matalhama of south Kashmir’s Kulgam. A day after his bullet-riddled body was recovered from Hawoora area of Kulgam.

Earlier in July, policeman Javid Ahmad Dar was abducted and killed by Hizbul Mujahideen militants. His body was discovered in Kulgam.  (PTK)
