Protests erupt after forces allegedly went berserk in Bijbehara
SRINAGAR, JULY 27 (PTK): Violent protests erupted in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara town on Friday after security forces allegedly went berserk.
Locals said that forces personnel suddenly started asking for I-cards of the people in the main market of Bijbehara and allegedly smashed vehicles and motorbikes around.
They alleged that forces personnel including policemen also thrashed many shopkeepers creating panic in the area. Soon angry protesters assembled and started raising slogans against what they called highhandedness of forces.
They also pelted stones on forces, witnesses said adding that the shopkeepers pulled down their shutters as tension gripped the town. (PTK)
