Ganderbal, July 23 (PTK): District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Dr. Piyush Singla today stressed on the need to groom sports budding talent of the district.
The DDC made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review sports and youth engagement policy in the district where in District Level Task Force (DLTF) was constituted to chalk-out the modalities and prepare a roadmap for the youth engagement programs in the district.
On the occasion, the DDC informed that officers from Youth Services and Sports, State Sports Council, Department of Education, Rural Development Department, Police, CRPF, BSF and Army will be the members of DLTF that will supervise the youth engagement programs launched by various departments.
He said that district Ganderbal has huge potential with respect to sports and DLTF committees will provide linkage between various organizations which are doing sports related programs so as engage more youths at block level of the district in extracurricular activities so that their talent could be better harnessed for constructive purposes.
Dr. Singla said that there needs to be constant review and updating of plans being executed by various departments for engaging youth in various sports activates, construction of new sports infrastructure, preparing calendar for youth activities for the year, making sports clubs and other youth-related activities.
To accentuate sport culture at block level, the DDC allocated bocks to the DLTF committee members and asked them to take responsibility of engaging more youth in sports activities at their respective block levels and show the results on the ground.
Reiterating the focus of maintaining existing sports infra, especially play fields and develop new ones, the DDC asked the ADDC Ganderbal, N.A Baba to inspect the works of Maadri Meharban Stadium Ganderbal executed by sports council.
He further asked the ACD Rural Development to make DPR of the play fields of the district of all the blocks like Tulmula Ground, Saloora Nambal ground, Sindhbal Ground, Goorvan Lar ground, Girls High School Wakoora ground, Safapora ground, play field in Kangan near Sheikh-ul Alam School.
The DDC stressed on maintaining the current sports infrastructure within the schools of the district besides constructing new sports infrastructure having urinals, change-room and fencing.
The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, Fayaz Ahmad Lone Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, District Youth Services & Sports officer, Incharge Manager sports Council, besides officers from Police, Army BSF and RR. (PTK)
