SRINAGAR, JULY 19 (PTK): An Illegal commercial is being constructed at Mandir Bagh Baghat Barzullaarea of Srinagar violating the norms and regulations of Housing in the residential areas.
According to the Srinagar master plan, the area has residential land use and construction of any commercial establishment is not permissible, the SMC can allow construction in a residential area up to 1,235 square feet while the building has an area more which is more than permissible.
Even as the state government has banned commercial constructions in residential areas in the city, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has failed to keep a check on such violations and prosecute the violators.
The locals have approached the concerned authorities and have also filed complaints against the illegal construction in their area, and also have written to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) but no action has been taken so far.
“The coming up of a commercial complex in the interiors of a residential colony will disturb our peace and tranquility.”
The locals have accused the SMC officers of bribery from the violators and are urging the higher authorities to take necessary immediate action against the persons involved. (PTK)
