BANDIPORA, JULY 18(PTK): The department of Indian System of Medicine and Health (AYUSH) today organised a day long seminar on ‘role of AYUSH in life style disorders’ , here at Conference Hall Bandipora.
Member Legislative Assembly, Bandipora Usman Majeed was the chief guest, while as District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Dr.Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and Director Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy, Niraj Kumar were the guests of honour on the occasion.
The seminar was organised with a key objective of creating sensitization and awareness among masses to adopt healthy lifestyle and to keep away from non communicable diseases / lifestyle disorders.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stressed the need for revival of traditional Ayurveda and Unani treatment, adding that the system of treatment is known for its less side effects on human health as against allopathic way of treatment. He said people across the world prefer to adopt AYUSH treatment for its long lasting benefits.He said nature has bestowed Jammu and Kashmir State with green pastures and herbal wealth and there is larger scope for more plantation of these herbs.
The MLA also urged upon the Aasha/Angan wari workers and teachers/ students present in the seminar to spread the message of AYUSH treatment in their jurisdictions.
He also expressed his pleasure for posting of Dr.Shahid Iqbal Choudhary as Deputy Commissioner Bandipora who is known for his dedication and honesty.
The DDC Bandipora on the occasion while stressing for holding a large scale awareness campaign across the district, assured that the District Administration will provide every possible support for promotion and development of AYUSH treatment.He said this system of treatment has a thousand years history and research is on ,with dacumentation of traditional treatment , to know the best uses of the treatment.
Director ISM while thanking the district administration for its best efforts and support towards promotion of ISM in the district , stressed the need for collective efforts to introduce AYUSH system of treatment in rural and far-flung areas of the district.He announced that 3 Panchkerma centres will be established in the district.Besides, 50 bedded ISM hospital in every district.
Earlier, the nodal officer ISM Dr.Iftikar Hussain presented the welcome address and gave the brief regarding the activities of the department.He informed that over 1.19 lakh patients have been treated at 20 ISM institutions in the district during last 15 months.
