SRINAGAR, JULY 18 (PTK): The residents of Haripora, Manigam, Nunner area of Ganderbal are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for subjecting them to unscheduled power cuts in the month of July.
The power outages have become a major concern here and despite the matter being brought to notice of Authorities many a time, the situation has not improved.
In Ganderbal the unscheduled power cuts have become frequent which is giving tough time to people as people have to depend on candles and lanterns during evening hours in Summer.
Locals told Press Trust of Kashmir that “unscheduled and frequent power cuts still persist despite passing of winter months.
However, in July consumers in different areas of Ganderbal complained of unscheduled power cuts ranging from eight to ten hours a day.
“The Power Development Department is resorting to forced cuts,” said Rashid Ahmad, a resident of Nunner.
Locals from the area told Press Trust of Kashmir that “they are facing repeated power cuts during morning and evening hours.
People also complained that that unscheduled curtailments are hampering the studies of their wards. “The power supply is being curtailed in contravention of the existing schedule. The studies of our wards are getting affected due to this and this leaves them stressed as they are not able to prepare for the exams. We appeal the concerned authorities to look into the matter,” said a consumer.
Ganderbal district has been witness to many protests against the Power Development department in summer which is serious case, but despite that the department has failed to provide the “uninterrupted power supply to its consumers.’’
Meanwhile Locals added that “AEE, Inspector and lineman are not infavour to response when people try to contact them”. They added that “they don’t care about people, what they need is money, Local added. (PTK)
