Srinagar, Jun 20 (PTK): Senior Congress leader and former union minister, Prof Saif-ud-din Soz on Tuesday said that forging an alliance with the BJP was the political blunder of former chief minister, late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
“I have a feeling that the most unpopular PDP and BJP alliance has come to an end with much relief to the people. It was a political blunder on the part of Mufti Sayeed to have forged this unholy alliance in the state,” Soz said in a statement.
He said that Mehbooba Mufti accepted it as a legacy. “She had initially shown resistance, but finally she took over,” Soz added.
“It was certainly a wrong step taken by the PDP and the BJP’s withdrawal from the illogical alliance took the PDP un averse,” he said.
“People like me had strongly argued with late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that it would be an illogical alliance and the people of the state, especially the people of Kashmir, would not accept it at any cost,” Soz said.
“The people of Kashmir know that I had established my credentials on 17 April 1999 by casting my vote against the BJP government at the Center, which had sought vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha,” former union minister added.
“My consistent view has been that BJP is a communal organisation which can never reform itself as the RSS is the fountainhead which is sectarian and wholly communal organisation,” he added.
