PDP  desirous to seek J&K an abode of peace and prosperity

Srinagar,Oct22 (PTK)Reiterating  Party’s resolve the senior PDP leader Mohammad Khurshid Alam has said that PDP is committed to carry out a relentless struggle to achieve the party’s target of establishing lasting peace in the state and to create a space for everyone to contribute and thrive in the democratic process with dignity  and resolves to carry forwards late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s policy of peace and reconciliation. He was addressing a series of well attended workers meeting which is a part of the meetings for public out reach and worker interaction programme by the party, at Khansaheb and Khanyar zone. Senior party functionaries, Muntazir Mohiudin District President Budgam, Ab Hameed Kosheen State Secretary, Zone Presidents, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Ali Mohammad wani, Mohammad Shafi kundangar, M J Lone , Aijaz Ahmad Rather besides others  were also present and spoke to the gatherings.

Emphasizing on the need of adopting “healing touch” policy of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to heal wounds of the people at this crucial time, Alam urged for immediate concrete steps for redressal of grievances of general masses in the  state.

Khurshid Alam said that the present government led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti is carrying the baggage of neglect from the previous government. He said that the government has been grappling with difficulties arising out of mismanagement by previous regime and that is most of the areas in the state have not been able to keep pace with the developed areas .”PDP government is committed to undo this dismay by ensuring that administration is geared for rational utilization of available resource for key sectors like roads, bridges, public health, power and rural development,” he said.

While Applauding the late Mufti for having the vision and capability of having hammered out a document like the Agenda of Alliance the PDP General Secretary Qazi Mohammad Afzal stated that it was the first time that issues concerning the political as well as economic front were so well documented and that the Central as well as the State leadership were brought on the same page.

“The Chief Minister Ms.Mehbooba Mufti is relentlessly pursuing the implementation of the Agenda of Alliance at the highest level and we must strive towards building a peaceful and conducive environment for implementing the terms of the Agenda of Alliance as it will go a great deal in not only addressing the political issues that the State faces, but will also help in boosting the State’s economy”’ said qazi.

Asserting that dialogue is the only way forward for lasting peace and reconciliation, they said societal discourse is crucial for resolving larger issues. “There is no alternate to peace and dialogue. Violence won’t do anything good to us,” he said.

 Speaking on the Occasion Senior leader and MLC Saifudin Bhat said the PDP will facilitate any initiative that aims at bringing calm on streets. “Chief Minister, Mehbooba Ji has a strong desire to see J&K as an abode of peace and prosperity. We are hopeful to see our place becoming a hub of peace and tranquility.

Termed the braid chopping incidents as “direct attack on Kashmiri ethos.” Bhat urged upon the conscientious class in general and party cadres in particular to maintain vigil against the braid chopping trend and sought an end to through people’s cooperation. Urging not to take law into own hands while dealing with suspicious braid choppers the leaders said that Kashmiri ethos doesnot allow us to do as has been done in sopore recently.  He was referring about some recent incidents in whichvigilante mobs sometimes decided to take against someone for no particular reason and determined that justice should be served. Caustioning that whenever people take the law into their own hands, things can and will go wrong, Bhat said.

Taking a dig on NC the leaders said that  “They stand exposed before the people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Kashmir in particular for the double standards and stands and have been punished by the People of J&K  for their misdeeds and now they are resorting to cheap tactics and are using braid chopping as a tool to fuel the violence in the state to creat chaos and distability in the region.  They said people of the state are mature enough to understand their  nefarious designs will not allow them to succeed in their tactics to harm the peaceful ethos and socio fabric in the state.(PTK)
