Srinagar Dec 18 (PTK):Employees of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) From Ganderbal district in central Kashmir today staged a massive protest.

They were demanding regularisation of their services and threatened State-wide strike if Government does not meet their demands. Scores of employees protest against state governments and lack of clear cut policy for contractual MGNREGA employees, they alleged.

The protesting Employees said they have been holding such protests for past many years to seek regularisation of their jobs but the State government was not ready to pay heed to their demands. “Government has always betrayed us but this time we have decided to keep protests more forcefully till our demands not met’, they said.

“We are not in a condition to educate our children neither in government or private schools, and we even cannot meet the requirements at our homes”, they added. An employee leader while addressing the protestors said, “It’s our right to demand the regularization of our services because we are highly qualified and well educated people”.

If the government does not do anything this time, we will intensify our protest in the coming days and will launch state-wide agitation,” a protesting employ said.

The employees demanded that government should frame a job policy for their regularisation and should absorb them in newly created Community Development Blocks. (PTK)
