Jammu Attack:JCO Ashraf Mir’s last rites held in maidanpora Lolab with full military honours

Kupwara,13 Feb. Slain army soldiers body reached today their villages after four days.The last rites of junior commissioned officer (JCO) Mohammad Ashraf Mir’s, who was killed by millitants in Jammu fidayeen attack, were held with full military honours on tuesday, even as his family and villagers demanded end to the bloodshed and urged for talks between India and Pakistan to stop these killings and tragedies.”These killings lead to tragedies and destruction only. We appeal India and Pakistan to put to an end the hostility and stop these inhuman acts,” they said.

The body of JCO mohd.ashraf’s, wrapped in the tricolour, was brought in a bedecked army vehicle to his native village in maidanpora Lolab of north kashmir’s kupwara district,here as a thousands of people  from neighbouring areas paid their last respect.

The JCO mohammad Ashraf who was killed in sunjawan army station fidayeen attack on saturday was given a gun salute by the army, which sounded the last post.

DSP Lolab Sarfaraz Ahmad, senior army officers, officials from the district administration were present on the occasion.

Villagers who kept chanting “Shaheed ki jo mout hai woh qoom ki hayat hai” also raised “ISLAM Zindabad”slogans.

His father while speaking with Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) said Ashraf was the only bread earner for the family. “He was our only hope. He laid down his life for the country. Asraf talked to me a few days back after he reached back to his unit at the camp. He was outside earlier,” he said.

These killings lead to tragedies and destruction only. We appeal India and Pakistan to put to an end the hostility and stop these inhuman acts,” locals on the occassion said.
