SRINAGAR MAR 15 (PTK):A police spokesman said that contact was established with the militants who carried out the attack on security officers of the BJP leader Anwar Khan.

Gunfight broke out between government forces and suspected militants who earlier attacked policemen guarding a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Khunmoh area in Srinagar outskirts.

Reports said that the forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following the attack which left a policeman injured.

A police spokesman said that contact was established with the militants who carried out the attack on security officers of the BJP leader Anwar Khan.

He identified the injured policeman as Bilal Ahmad.
